Summer Transfer Dealings

Signed Shaun Macdonald midfielder 31 soon, two year contract. Will we ever learn. Underwhelmed got to be. Is that the way we're going. Give Forde another contract may as well with signings like that. Is that the best Scotty can come up with. I've always said a manager who knows what he's doing doesn't need a head of recruitment.

2nd sigining - Shaun McDonald - Midfielder

from OS:

The 30-year-old - capped four times by his country - has signed a two-year deal at the New York Stadium, after leaving Wigan Athletic.

He joins Carlton Morris to become Warne’s second close season signing, and will officially join the Millers on July 1.

The former Swansea and Bournemouth central midfielder - who played with boss Warne on loan at Yeovil Town - helped the Cherries to promotion out of League One, before the south coast club moved up to the Premier League.

sorry gwru - we both posted at the same time

benefit of the doubt and all that, but would have thought strikers and centre backs are our priority...

One of those player jury out signed Jones last season he was not the worst player we have had always give a player a chance. We still want some players who will get the fans exited.

Macdonald hasn't played 1st team football for 2 seasons. Wigan were no greats shakes last season. As I've said underwhelmed. What was the rush to sign a midfield player. Wait while Vaulks & Ajayi leave then I'm hoping there'll be more money available. But I've forgot Warney likes to give contracts to players who are ready for retirement.

Another shocking signing. Have we started offering the new signings pay as you play contracts?

..Now that's just silly. That would require us to learn lessons from the past and apply common sense... nono

I'm going to buck the trend, give him a chance and see him play a bit before I write him off. He was rated very highly until he suffered a double leg fracture. That's a nasty injury but one a player can recover from 100% whereas some players are never quite the same after a knee injury. At nearly 31 he isn't past it. He played against us early last season in the Carabao Cup. With Potter gone, Towell gone, Vaulks almost definitely going and Ajayi possibly going we definitely need some midfield players and particularly a holding player which is what he is.

As somebody has said on Mad, we once signed a midfielder called Stewart Talbot who had been out of the game for a very long time with a leg fracture. It turned out he was a fantastic signing and certainly didn't mind putting his foot in.

Give the lad a chance. Jeez slagging him off before he's even kicked a ball for us. Granted giving him a two year deal is a bit of a risk but a risk PW & the clubs medical team are willing to take. As smiler said I'm old enough to remember the rumblings of discontent when we signed Stewart Talbot all those years ago & he turned out a bit more than OK. He has bags of experience higher than L1, a bit of knowledge that helps Wiles & Crooks.

Some employees around the country are employed on zero hours' contracts. RUFC are an employer. They need to reduce the risk of financial loss when setting on new players by being extra prudent. Some football agents have had it far too good for far too long.

Now that would be a signing. Spring-heeled lightning fast winger who scores goals

Courtney Senior sounds like he is over 30.

We should be looking to sign Courtney Junior.

Just joking. I had a brief period playing professional football, followed by 11 years playing semi professionally. I am now a web developer.

Just having a jocular swipe at the Wikipedia scouts who like to think that they know far more than Warne and Scott and the medical team.
