Just listened to him on radio sheffield, the man is delusional. Saying we were the better side we did enough to win, that the lads couldnt deal with the pressure and their tactics threw our players and we got frustrated. Also not worried about conceding at set pieces. He sounded so depressed as well, so a negative manager. If we have got players that feel the pressure at game two and we cannot deal with tactics of other teams we are in a real mess. PW they were the better team, worked harder, adapted to the conditions better, closed us down in packs and took their chances. You are tactically out thought by so many managers it is becoming embarrassing, bring in an experienced coach and let your jogging and squash buddy go.

It's not just the coaching. It's players brought in & 4-3-3 formation. Midfield today you could have took any of the 3 starters off. Warney thinks Vassell is going to be the savior of his 3 up front system. No chance can't play wide & no idea when a chance comes to him. None of the other strikers can play wide. Change it now or nothing to come this season.

You make some good points Derby. I agree Lincoln were the better team. They worked hard and in Payne had a midfield player who was able to dictate play and had the pace and composure to make things happen.
Have you ever been up to Parkgate and watched them train? I will defend Barker till the cows come home as a coach. He is a highly respected coach who has had input at the highest level. Not sure where all these managers are who has tactically out thought us, i would agree if you said last year sides had more flair and more possession but tactically out thought i don't think so. Today we had a midfield who were unable to get their foot on the ball. Too many times we played the long ball and had players who were not in it at all. Barker will be working so hard to turn this around. Whether we have the players to do it is another matter but the coaching is easily this leagues standard if not better.

Working hard does not make you good at your job, in football the only thing that matters is results Barkers coaching is poor we have no plan B we buy players that do not give us options, the team look very unfit either warne or barker are to blame or both, we have to stop defending men that are failing because they come from rotherham or love the club. We do not have **** fans, or **** players or **** owners we have a awful management team

Problem is Warney. It's not just happened overnight. TS keeps him as manager cause he doesn't ruffle any feathers. Players he's brought in over the last 3 seasons the not good enough easily outweigh the good enough. Started with Potter past it. Last season Jones same. This season another one Macdonald. Resigning Price, giving contracts to Wood & Proctor all catches up on you. As soon as I saw Crooks I knew he's only a league 2 player, doesn't move or think like a footballer. Vassell another one not good enough. I'm mostly proved right in the end. Warney should have gone as soon as we got relegated last season before he could f*ck another transfer window up with the money brought in from the Vaulks Ajayi ect... sales. 4-3-3 is suicidal anyone can see that. But I agree with getting shut of the wingers from last season apart from Williams. The others were surplus. .

4 3 3 is not suicidal england use that tactic or vary it to 3 4 3 For me.its apparent imo Warne is out of his depth or too stubborn. To.me and many others he has on my bought players for his plan A i supppse with Lindsay we could play 3 5 2 or 3 4 3 . But to me he just seems unable to adjust tactics during a game. Too many times. Sometime you find.your self out of your depth in a career. So you have 2 choices 1 leave 2 get help.from.some.one more experienced Time will tell

Very poor display in a very poor game. However, we created enough chances to come away with a win. Poor finishing by players who seem to lack confidence in front of goal or in some cases simply do not have the appropriate ability.

At times I thought I was watching primary school football with the three forwards all running into to space. Nobody was coming short for the ball. It was also a good example of a setup designed to make Michael Smith look a poor player. He should not be ruining a our like an headless chicken he should be available to receive the ball and the other forwards play off him.

Midfield did not support the forwards. Nobody made forward runs apart from Wiles who tried to hard when he came on. Barlesar does not offer much and I cannot understand the role McDonald had in the first half. The game just past him by. Crooked did not look fit.

The defence coped ok and Robertson looks head and shoulders above the rest. Mattock is limited going forward and did not look fit.

Defending freekicks and corners is poor. The run for the second goal was so obvious it should have been picked up.

Should we continue with 433? On that performance we do not have the players who have the skill set to pull it off. I know it might be to early to judge but if we are to get the best out of the players we have I feel the system is not right.

The worry aspect for me was the lack of thought that went into the tactics. Surely on a day of high gusting wind you do not kick it high and long.

Having thought about it “created” is being too kind.

For a team that is supposed to be so fit we seem to have a lot of injuries. Are the players being over worked?

We can't play any other system other than 4-4-2 we can get away with it in this league. 4-5-1 in the championship. Any other is too ridiculous for words.

yes, very much agree with the angle you are assessing it by. The point about the skillset relative to the level we are playing at is a crucial one in 433. All those points about coming short and creating the right nuances of space and angles is well made. your last paragraph along with the comment about primary school understanding is the point that bothered me most about Saturday. PW did comment on this in some fashion and it seems that preseason seemed to have gone well by all accounts. Thats why Im keeping the powder dry but not filling the chamber on the setup unlike I did last season.

It is only the second game and I think its fair to say that PW did leak some bemusement about the lack of application to the model.  Hes very stubborn and somewhat black and white, but he does not want to be embarrassed so I think it all deserves more time...to do any accurate assessment.
